DELI XL equips its frozen warehouse with voice-directed technology (Belgium)

Belgian company Deli XL, a subsidiary of the Bidvest Group Ltd. is a total supplier for the foodservice market. With a wide range of dry, fresh and frozen foods, Deli XL is aimed at large-scale kitchens of institutions and the hotel and restaurant industry. The multi-temperature service strategy (combined delivery of products at both room temperature as well as positive and negative temperatures) allows Deli XL to guarantee distribution quality, simplification and service. In order to even further meet its expectations, Deli XL has equipped its frozen warehouse (with temperatures to -20°C) with voice-directed technology.

Voice picking for medicine (Belgium)

French speakers call her Josiane while Dutch speakers call her Marijke, as in the song by Jacques Brel. Who is she? She is the voice pronouncing transaction orders in the Vocollect headsets worn by the twenty or so operators who handle 40,000 parcels per month for wholesalers, hospitals and chemist’s stores in Belgium. This synthesized voice translates and transmits the data from the SAP R/3 WM module. This tireless operator “talks” and listens all day long and acts as an intermediary between the team working in the Sanofi-Aventis warehouse in Boortmeerbeek and Psion Teklogix’s TekSpeech middleware.

Rich Picking with Psion Teklogix Voice Technology – “100% more accurate” (Republic of South Africa)

Psion Teklogix voice technology systems are operating successfully at SPAR Distribution Centres (DCs) in Durban, Port Elizabeth, South and North Rand, and SPAR’s Group Logistics Executive, Trevor Currie, says that the voice system has been so effective that it is being rolled out to two more DCs. “Our Nelspruit DC is going live later in 2007 and we will also be implementing voice technology at our Cape Town DC after moving into new premises in mid 2008”.
